Post-Construction Window Cleaning — Dalgetty Road, Beaumaris
A builders' clean on two new townhouses on Dalgetty Road, Beaumaris. Adhesive residue across the glass and paint on the frames, on glazing nobody had touched since it was installed. Two townhouses side by side is one site and two of everything: two sets of glazing, two sets of frames, and the same residue on both. Neither is finished until both are.

The problem
Builders' residue is not dirt. Adhesive from protective film and labels had hardened on the glass, and paint had been left on the frames, and none of it comes off with an ordinary window pass. On glazing this new the risk runs the other way: the thing that shifts the residue is also the thing that scratches the pane or takes the finish off a frame.
What we did
Residue was softened and lifted rather than scraped dry, with the product and the dwell time set separately for each surface. Adhesive on glass and paint on a frame are two different problems that happen to sit ten millimetres apart, and treating them the same way is how one of them gets damaged.
