A single-storey home with a concrete tile roof, cleared in the spring of 2023. The gutter was filled level with the lip — not leaves, but pine needles matted into a solid felt, with twigs sitting on top.

A Canterbury home with a terracotta tile roof, cleared in the middle of a Melbourne winter. Two and three quarter hours on site for a single technician.

A two-storey townhouse in Fitzroy, mid-winter, with roughly 40 metres of guttering buried under broad dried leaves. Water was already standing in the channel when the crew arrived — the outlet had stopped taking it.

A two-storey terrace in Middle Park with a box gutter running between the roof sheet and the parapet wall — around 30 metres of it, with dried leaves banked along the join.

A double-storey home in Elwood with 90 metres of guttering under a terracotta tile roof, and gutter guard along the full run. The debris was fine — moss, humus and lichen shed from the tiles themselves.

A Caulfield North home booked in mid-April, before the winter rain set in. Three and a half hours on site for one technician.

A single-storey home in St Kilda with 54 metres of Colorbond guttering that had filled with leaves and seed pods until almost no channel was left for water.

A double-storey St Kilda home with 70 metres of Colorbond guttering, left long enough that the debris had compacted into a solid mat that no longer shifted when it rained.
