Soft washing questions we get asked
What is the difference between soft washing and pressure washing?+
Pressure relies on force. Soft washing relies on a cleaning solution and time to work, at about garden-hose pressure. Walls, render and paint get the soft treatment — concrete and driveways can take the rough stuff.
Will a soft wash strip the paint off my walls?+
No. That's the whole reason we wash at low pressure. Force is what drives water behind cladding and lifts coatings, and it's the usual cause of the damage people end up blaming on cleaning.
How long before the green growth comes back?+
Shade and airflow decide that, more than the wash does. A north-facing wall in the open stays clean far longer than a south wall under trees. We'll tell you which one you've got.
Do you clean the windows at the same time?+
Not as part of this. Washing walls runs dirt straight down over the glass, so windows go after, not during. Ask and we'll quote both in the right order.
Do you wash commercial buildings as well?+
Yes. Commercial and strata house washing services run on the same low-pressure method. Boom lift or rope access depending on the building, and never fewer than two technicians on site.

Why pressure is the wrong tool for a wall
Soft washing Melbourne render and cladding comes down to one rule. Force doesn't clean a wall, it strips it. Render, texture coat and paint are surface layers a few millimetres thick, and a pressure washer takes them off as happily as it takes off dirt. It also drives water behind weatherboard and into the gaps around windows, where it sits. Most of the damage blamed on cleaning is really damage from pressure.
What is actually growing on the shaded side
The dark patches on a south-facing wall aren't dirt. They're mould and algae rooted into the surface, which is why scrubbing shifts the colour without shifting the problem. A wash that kills the growth lasts a season. One that wipes the top layer off looks good for a fortnight — then comes back darker than before.
Where washing sits in the running order
Walls go after the roof and before the glass. Anything cleaned above a wall runs down it, and anything done to the wall runs down onto the windows and the paving below. Getting that sequence wrong is the single most common reason people end up paying twice to have the same surface cleaned, a fortnight apart.
What exterior house cleaning actually costs
Nobody prices exterior house cleaning off a floor plan. What drives it is wall area, storeys, and how much growth has taken hold. A single-storey brick veneer out in the open is the cheap end. Two storeys, heavy render, a south wall under trees and nowhere to stand a ladder? Same house, top of the range.
