Why WaterCrew

A crew trained for height, with the gear to match

WaterCrew started in Melbourne in 2023 as a one-man operation and runs today as a crew of six. Before that our founder spent a decade running an industrial rope-access company in Kyiv, which is why steep pitches and second storeys are routine here rather than a reason to decline a job. We run Kärcher Professional and SkyVac Industrial equipment, and have completed over 800 jobs across the city.

Rope-access background

A decade of high-rise work in Kyiv before Melbourne, so two-storey and steep-pitch roofs are standard scope.

Professional gear only

Kärcher Professional pressure equipment and SkyVac Industrial vacuums. Nothing off a hardware-store shelf.

Measured, not guessed

Simple jobs are quoted from aerial imagery and property plans, so the figure is measured rather than invented.

Photos before and after

Every job documented and sent to your WhatsApp the same day, so you see the result without climbing up.

The difference

What a full exterior job includes — and what it doesn't

Most exterior cleaning quotes look alike until you compare what is actually inside them. Here is what we include as standard.

WaterCrew

  • Measured from aerial imagery, plans or on site
  • Vacuum reach from ladder level — nobody walks your tiles
  • Every downpipe checked, flushed where needed
  • Sent to your WhatsApp the same day
  • Leaves and clippings bagged and taken with us
  • Quoted before we start, and it does not move
  • Roof, gutters, windows, solar and paving in one booking
  • Included as standard, not surcharged

Typical budget quote

  • Often a round number given over the phone
  • Commonly cleaned by climbing onto the roof
  • Gutters only — blockages left in the downpipes
  • Rarely offered, or only on request
  • Often bagged and left beside the bin
  • Often charged on completion, by the hour
  • Separate trades, separate invoices
  • Commonly declined or subcontracted out

Pine needles on a concrete tile roof

A single-storey home with a concrete tile roof, cleared in the spring of 2023. The gutter was filled level with the lip — not leaves, but pine needles matted into a solid felt, with twigs sitting on top.

FAQ

Exterior cleaning questions we get asked

Can't see yours? Call +61 390 689 966 or ask when you request your quote.

What does exterior cleaning actually cover?+

The whole outside of the house: roof washing, gutter clearing, windows, solar panels, driveways, paving, fences, render and cladding. Most homes need two or three of those, and we do them in one visit.

How do you work out the price for my place?+

For straightforward jobs we measure from aerial imagery and property plans, count the windows or the run of guttering, and quote from that. For larger or mixed jobs we come out and look first. Either way the price is fixed before we start.

Do I need to be home when your crew arrives?+

No. We work from ground and ladder level and need clear access to the property, nothing more. Photos of the finished job go to your WhatsApp the same day, so you can check the result from wherever you are.

Are you insured and are your technicians checked?+

Yes. We carry $20M public liability cover, we are WorkSafe compliant, and every technician is police-checked before setting foot on a property. We can send the paperwork through before the booking.

What happens if I am not happy with the work?+

You do not pay for it. We walk the finished job with you, or send photos if you are out, and if the result is not what you expected we make it right or you are not charged. There is no form to fill in.

When is the busiest time for exterior cleaning?+

August through February is our peak, when leaf drop, seed pods and nesting fill gutters and growth takes hold on roofs and paving. We work year-round, so the quieter months are the easiest time to get a booking.

Do you work on two-storey and steep roofs?+

Yes, at no surcharge. Our founder ran an industrial rope-access company for a decade before starting WaterCrew, and our SkyVac Industrial gear reaches from ladder level, so height is standard scope.

What sort of equipment does your crew use?+

Kärcher Professional pressure and soft-wash equipment, and SkyVac Industrial vacuum systems. The right gear is what lets us clean tile and render without stripping coatings or forcing water where it should not go.

Exterior care

Why Melbourne is hard on a home's exterior

Melbourne puts an unusual load on outdoor surfaces. Eucalypts shed leaf, bark and seed pods all year rather than in one autumn burst, so gutters fill continuously. Bayside air carries salt that dulls glass and works at metal, and the swing between wet weeks and dry heat leaves moss and lichen on south-facing walls, paving and roof tiles.

The order to clean the outside of a house

Working top down saves doing anything twice. Roof first, then gutters, then walls and render, then windows, and paving last. Cleaning a roof washes grime into the gutters, and washing walls runs dirt down onto glass and paving below. Booking the whole exterior in one visit costs less than separate call-outs, and the sequence comes out right.

Choosing an exterior cleaning contractor

Ask three things before booking. What equipment will be on site, because domestic pressure washers strip roof coatings and force water under flashing. Whether the price is fixed or worked out on completion. And what happens to the debris, because leaves bagged and left beside the bin are still your problem to deal with.
